چکیده
We describe the successful relief of compression of the spinal cord due to a vertebral haemangioma by transcatheter embolisation using cyanoacrylate compounds before operation, and provide a brief review of the literature.

Blood Loss in Surgery for Aggressive Vertebral Haemangioma with and without Embolisation
Despite their benign nature some symptomatic aggressive vertebral haemangiomas (AVH) require surgery to decompress spinal cord and/or stabilise pathological fractures. Preoperative embolisation may reduce the considerable blood loss during surgical decompression. This systematic review investigated whether preoperative embolisation reduced surgical blood loss during treatment of symptomatic AVH...
متن کاملSuccessful Arterial Embolisation of Giant Liver Haemangioma
A 28-year old man presented with a symptomatic giant haemangioma. On June 26, 1983, at laparotomy, no resection was attempted because the lesion involved the right lobe of the liver and a part of segments II and III. The patient underwent a right hepatic arterial embolisation with gelatine sponge particles. During follow-up, the patient remained asymptomatic. Five-year review by CT-scan showed ...
متن کاملSpinal reconstruction for symptomatic thoracic haemangioma using a titanium cage.
Most vertebral haemangiomas are asymptomatic. A case of spinal reconstruction for symptomatic extraosseous thoracic haemangioma using a titanium cage is reported. Radiographs of the T11 vertebra demonstrated characteristic vertical striations. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography showed spinal cord compression by extraosseous tumour extension. Several tumour feeding vessels were s...
متن کاملDelayed presentation of a vertebral arterio-venous fistula secondary to penetrating cervical trauma: endovascular management using coil embolisation - a case report.
Vertebro-vertebral arteriovenous fistulae occur infrequently. We report on such a case with delayed presentation following penetrating neck injury. This was successfully treated via coil embolisation. A 40-year-old woman presented with a subjective tinnitus that was abolished by turning her head to the right. She had sustained penetrating neck trauma 6 months earlier. Doppler Ultrasound and mag...
متن کاملEndovascular Management of Iatrogenic Renal Vascular Injuries Complicating Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy: Role of Renal Angiography and Superselective Coil Embolisation
Objective: To describe the use of renal angiography in the detection of renal vascular injuries following percutaneous nephrolithotripsy and to assess the efficacy of endovascular management of these complications. Methods: This was a retrospective review of 131 consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotripsy for renal calculi from January 2001 to July 2005. All patients who p...
